  • Fill a small bowl with room-temperature water to within a ½ inch of the rim. Add drops of nail polish to the water, alternating red and white.

  • Once you’ve added six drops of polish, use a toothpick to comb through the polish and create a marbleized pattern. Work quickly, as the nail polish will harden and be unusable after a couple of minutes.

  • Dip a glass ball into the polish-filled water to transfer the marbleized pattern to the ornament. Gently shake off excess water and let dry, with the marbleized polish facing upward.

Note: If you are making more than one ornament, use a toothpick to comb through the water to remove any residual polish before beginning the next ornament.

  • Use scissors to cut a ribbon hanger for your ornament. Once the polish has dried, string ribbon through the loop at the top of the ball to hang.
