Easy DIY Decorative Fall Wreath
With just a little effort and less than an hour of your time, you can create a beautiful fall wreath for your door that will take you all the way through Thanksgiving. Come December, pull out the flowers and update the wreath with winter and holiday accents. In fact, with a simple update each season, you can keep your door decorated all year long.
Materials Needed:
- Grapevine wreath
- A mix of silk flowers, including greenery filler pieces, small accent flowers, and large focal flowers
- Artificial seasonal items (pumpkins, acorns, etc.)
- Scissors or wire cutters
- Floral wire
Step 1
Using sharp scissors or wire cutters, cut the silk flowers into individual pieces, leaving a 4- to 6-inch-long stem on each. To create filler around the wreath, add the lighter, greener pieces first by sticking the wire ends into the center of the grapevine branches. Push each piece into the wreath firmly until secure. For any pieces that don’t stay in place, use an additional strand of floral wire to secure.
Step 2
Add smaller accent flowers around the wreath, inserting each piece just as you did with the filler pieces.
Step 3
Position larger, focal flowers onto the wreath. Clip-on flowers should be clipped onto one of the thicker, sturdier grapevine branches.
Step 4
Add smaller seasonal items, such as plastic pumpkins and acorns. If any of the items you’ve chosen don’t have a wire stem, use floral wire to secure them around the wreath.
Step 5
Add a small piece of floral wire to the back of the wreath and hang onto a hook or nail positioned in the center of your door. For glass doors, you can use an over-the-door wreath hanger.
